Hassan Daoud

Hassan Daoud is a Lebanese novelist and journalist, born in Beirut in 1950. As a journalist, he has worked on various Lebanese newspapers including al-Safeer and al-Hayat and he currently manages the Nawafez supplement of al-Mustaqbal newspaper. He has also published two short story collections – Under Angie's Balcony and The Angel's Holiday – and is the author of several novels, some of which have been translated into English, French, German and Italian. English editions of his novels include: The House of Mathilde, published by Granta Books in 1999; The Year of the Revolutionary New Bread-Making Machine, published by Saqi Books in 2007 and, most recently, Borrowed Time, which was published by Telegram Books in 2009.
