Inam Bioud

Inam Bioud is an Algerian academic, translator, novelist and poet, born in Syria in 1953. For the last 25 years, she has taught translation and interpretation in Algerian universities and has translated a large body of work by Algeria's most prominent writers. Among her published works are: Literary Translation: Problems and Solutions (2003), her novel The Fish Doesn't Care (2003), which won the 2003 Algerian Malek Haddad Prize for Fiction, and a poetry collection Unsent Letters (2003). Between 2009-2014 she was a member of the Advisory Board for the “Arab Knowledge Report” launched by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the Al Maktoum Foundation, and between 2009-2013, was a member of the advisory board for the "Arab Integration Report," established by the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). She has been Director of the Higher Arab Institute for Translation in Algiers, supported by the Arab League, since its foundation.
