Badriya Albadri

Badriya Albadri is an Omani poet and novelist, born in Muscat, in 1975. She has published many novels, collections of classical and popular poetry, and books of children’s literature. Her four novels for adults are: Behind Loss (2015), winner of first prize from the Omani Literary Forum in 2013; The Last Crossing (2017), published in English in 2023; The Shadow of Hermaphroditus (2018), winner of the 2019 Arab Creativity Prize; and Foumbi (2022). Her two young adult novels are: Smoothie, the Adventurer (2021), longlisted for the 2021 Sheikh Zayed Book Award, in the Children and Young Adult category; and The Scarecrow (2021). She writes for the Murshid magazine aimed at children and young adults, and is a writer on the TV series Band 9, the first police cartoon series in the Arab world. Badriya Albadri took part in the IPAF Nadwa (creative writing workshop for talented young writers) in 2017.
